WLT

Welcome to Wulfstan’s Literary Tumble.WLT1 213x300 WLT

The magazine is named after my alter-ego and first pseudonym Wulfstan Crumble. Any users of Writerscafe may well know this name by now; even though i’ve been barely active for the last few years (ever since the crash of 2007 and the loss of most of my work).

It has long been my dream to set up a website and magazine for writers and artists across the world. I want to create an online haven for creative people, a place to come together and socialise. I’m not good at web design but am willing to learn and develop.

The magazine is the first step in a long road towards this. I would love for people across the world join in and participate in this venture. And there is a place for all of you. Novelists can have their books reviewed. Independent and self-publishers can get cheap advertising (we might even publish extracts), poets can have their poems published, we’ll consider any feature or critique, any book review, we’d love to read your micro/flash fiction and short stories. They can be from any genre, in any style, because we firmly believe a good story is a good story.

At the moment we are unable to pay writers for their contributions. This is because the venture is starting with a budget of £0/$0. I would love to be able to pay writers and will do so as soon as it is financially possible. This is why we appreciate all subscribers (when the subscription system is up and running) and those who donate money.

We will be linking the magazine to a worldwide literacy charity or two, with the aim of donating 20-25 percent of all revenue to them. We’re open to running private advertising space in the magazine and on the website. So get in touch: editor@markwollacott.com

Name Change – Wulfstan’s Miscellany

frontcover 2 201x300 Name Change Wulfstans MiscellanyQuick heads up folks. After a few months struggling to get a decent print edition out (and in my opinion failing), we have made some changes to Wulfstan’s Literary Tumble. First, we are changing the name to Wulfstan’s Miscellany. This is so we can function better in the new publishing format we are working on.

What is this new format? Well, quite simply, we are going to produce a paperback book version of each edition of the magazine. This will save us upfront printing costs for magazines; especially as we are not guaranteed circulation. I guess this makes us more of a seasonal anthology than a magazine, although as a miscellany, we will still be printing the  same things i.e. stories, articles, poetry, reviews and so on.

We have yet to decide if the print editions will be in colour or black and white. Colour would be idea as we can add in images and so on. We’ll try to do that, but colour editions of books on Lulu are way more expensive than black and white editions. Right now, Wulfstan’s Miscellany is open for submissions for Vol. IV, which is due out June 1st. Already we have poetry by Nada Sakher, Tatjana Debeljacki, Cara Iorello and Vaness del Valle. It will also feature an interview with up and coming Polish artist Malgorzata Sekula, reviews of The Expo Files and The Greatest Movie Ever Sold as well as a feature on misogyny in television.
